The situation

A rug is bought for one particular room

The store sells indoor and indoor/outdoor rugs in many sizes. In the product photo the rug lies in someone else’s room, or on a white background.

Whether the size fits the room, and whether the colour works with the floor and the sofa, is something shoppers can’t see there. That is the question “See it in your room” answers: with a photo of their own room.

What was set up

The Shopify app, a button, an email prompt

No 3D models and no new product photos: HomeVisioner works from the store’s existing photos.

The Shopify app

Installed from the Shopify App Store. The panel with analytics, leads and the gallery sits in the store’s Shopify admin.

“See it in your room” on product pages

A button on the product page: shoppers upload a photo of their room and see the rug in it.

Email capture in the widget

After a few free previews the widget asks for an email address. Consent to marketing emails is a separate box that is not pre-ticked.

Reading the figures

What the data shows, and what it doesn’t

What it shows

  • Shoppers use the button: 2,287 finished room visualizations since 9 May 2026.
  • About 1 in 8 visualizations led to an email address the store sees in its panel (12.7%).
  • 137 orders came from shoppers who had used the visualizer or left their email in the widget before ordering.

What it doesn’t show

  • That the visualizer caused these orders. Some of them would have happened anyway; shoppers who visualize are often closer to buying to begin with.
  • A comparison with shoppers who didn’t visualize. There is no control group, so there is no claim of extra revenue.
  • Revenue after refunds: the amounts are before refunds and cancellations; 6 orders were later cancelled or (partly) refunded.
  • A forecast for your store. This is one store, with its own range and its own shoppers.

How this was counted

  • As of 22 October 2026. Read from the store’s HomeVisioner data, computed the way its Analytics page in the Shopify admin computes it.
  • Visualizations: finished AI previews. Shoppers: distinct email addresses; someone who leaves the same address on two products counts once.
  • Orders: each order once, attributed under the rules on our methodology page. Amounts: the full order total, converted from the store’s own currency at the 22 October 2026 reference rate, rounded to €100; before refunds and cancellations.
  • The 30 and 90 days count back from 22 October 2026; “since the start” runs from the first visualization on 9 May 2026.
