Day one: setup without code

Install “HomeVisioner: Room Visualizer” from the Shopify App Store and you’ll find it in your admin under Apps, with a “Get started” checklist. First choose a plan in Shopify: it appears on your Shopify invoice, and even the Free plan has to be selected, because with no plan chosen the widget creates no previews.

Then decide where the button appears. Under “Manage” you switch on whole collections, or single products on the “Products” tab. For the first month we recommend starting with one or two collections where a preview helps most — furniture, rugs or flooring, the products where shoppers ask “how would this look in my home?”

The button itself is a theme app block: “Add block to theme” in the checklist opens the theme editor with the block already in your product template, and you drag it next to Add to cart and save. Older themes without app blocks use the app embed instead. Every step, with screenshots, is in our Shopify setup guide. Then open an enabled product page yourself, tap the button and upload a photo of your own room. Don’t skip this test: it shows you once, first-hand, exactly what your shoppers will see.

Week one: the first previews and the first emails

The Free plan includes 20 visualizations a month, with a HomeVisioner watermark on the results. In a store with a lot of traffic, that can run out within the first week. Starter includes 100 visualizations for $14.99 a month and can be tried free for 14 days. On Free, Starter and Growth, the button stops showing once the month’s allowance is used up; Pro can go on with extra visualizations at $0.17 each, up to $85 a month. You can change plans any time under “Billing”.

Email capture is on by default: after one visualization, the widget asks for an email address. Under “Settings” you decide after how many visualizations it asks and how many a visitor can create per day. Marketing consent is a separate checkbox that is not ticked in advance. The emails shoppers leave appear as leads under “Customers” and can be downloaded as a CSV.

The most instructive screen in week one is the “Gallery” (Starter, Growth and Pro). It shows the previews your shoppers created over the last 15 days; room photos and previews are deleted automatically after 30 days. Look at which products were tried and which photos gave good results: dark room photos, or ones taken too close up, make the result noticeably worse.

Weeks two and three: reading Analytics correctly

“Analytics” counts three things over 7-, 30- or 90-day periods: completed visualizations, leads, and attributed orders with their revenue. On Shopify an order is attributed in one of four ways, checked in this order: a note the widget leaves on the shopper’s cart after a visualization; an anonymous visitor ID in the cart, matched against visualizations and leads from the 7 days before the order; the shopper’s Shopify customer account; or the order’s email address matching a lead from those 7 days. Shopify reports each new order immediately.

Cancelled and refunded orders are not deducted from attributed revenue or the order count; the panel shows their amount and number separately. So don’t expect a refund to disappear from the screen; it shows up on a separate line.

An important caution: an attributed order is not proof that the preview made the sale. A shopper who uses the preview may already be closer to buying. You can find exactly how every figure is counted on the page that explains how we measure.

What do the numbers look like in other stores?

The HomeVisioner network totals have been counted across all stores on Shopify and ikas since June 2026. As of 21 October 2026, they stand at 9,800+ completed visualizations, a 98% success rate, 1,100+ emails left and 500+ attributed orders. Rounded, attributed orders come to 5% of visualizations.

Don’t read these figures as a target or a promise for your own store. They are totals from stores in different categories, at different price levels and with different traffic volumes. In your store the rate may turn out higher or lower. The real purpose of the first 30 days is to find your own baseline.

Day 30: what to look at and what to decide

At the end of the month, look for answers to three questions. First: on the products where the button is on, is the number of visualizations reasonable compared with how often those products are viewed? If it is very low, look at the button. Under “Settings” you set its text, style, colour and icon, and “Match your store” can take over one of your theme’s button looks; in the theme editor you set its width and alignment.

Second: which products give good results? Previews usually turn out better when the product photo shows the whole product against a plain background. The preview uses the selected variant’s own image; when a variant has none, it uses the image at the “Product image position” you set in the block, the first one unless you change it. For products with weak results, pointing it at a plain product shot is often enough.

Third: should you widen the scope? If the first collection went well, switch on similar ones under “Manage”. You can see which products stand out for furniture stores on our page for furniture stores, and every plan and feature on the HomeVisioner for Shopify page. If you need more visualizations, Growth includes 300 for $49.99 a month and adds advanced analytics. Setup support is free; if you get stuck, write to us from the app’s “Support” page or to [email protected].
